Why a Custom Database?
Merely owning a computer does not automatically increase the effectiveness of a business or an organization. You need to be able to make the computer do what you need it to do. A custom database is essentially a software package that is designed specifically for the needs of your organization. Metaphorically, it allows the computer to think in your language, so that you are not limited to thinking and working in the language built in to the computer or the off-the-shelf software that resides on it.

Filemaker Pro is the perfect database building tool for small to medium-sized organizations. Filemaker Pro operates identically on both Windows and Mac OS machines. A simple, functional database can be created in a few hours, but can eventually be expanded into a fully relational, scripted database system with unlimited layouts and reports, holding up to 4 terabytes of data. Filemaker databases can be shared with large numbers of users on a network, and can be served as interactive websites. Databases created with Filemaker Pro can also communicate with other kinds of databases using ODBC and SQL.
